Just ‘Cause You Pour Syrup on Something Doesn’t Make It Pancakes!

The title of this post is a line from one of my favorite movies, Juice by the character Trip, who is also played by one of my favorite actors, Samuel L. Jackson.

This is also the topic of this post. I started juicing, extract the juice from (fruit or vegetables), this year and it was going pretty well. I started with fruits and I am now comfortable making 90% vege juices for breakfast or snacks.

The problem was that I felt that I had no direction in this new venture. I basically just make up a random juice concoction every morning for breakfast and I am feeling like I need a goal or some sort of plan.

After much research into the world of juicing, I found that most people do juice fasts, where they drink and eat nothing but juice for a certain amount of time. I am not about that life. I need meals.

So upon further reading, I found errors in how I was currently juicing:

Problem 1: I use a cheap fast-speed juicer which causes the enzymes in my juice to deteriorate faster due to the heat from the fast-speed motor. This also causes the remnants of the juice, the throwaway peels, to be of a soupy nature and stink up your kitchen ::insert sad face:: This all means the juice separates much faster, lower quality juice and a growing produce grocery bill since it’s juicing too fast to grab ALL the juice from the produce thus the soupy remnants.

Solution: Suck it up and buy the expensive low-mastication (low motor speed) juicer. These a pricey girl, or guy, but in the long run will save you money on your produce grocery bill and not to mention health care costs. Low speed juicers use augers to slowly grind all the juice from your produce rather than the blades of the high-speed juicers. The results are dry pulp or remnants and a rosy-smelling kitchen.

juice options

Problem 2: I was substituting my morning juice for breakfast. This is unhealthy in that one glass of juice, though rich in nutrients, does not provide all you need for a full day.

Solution: Drink my breakfast juice with a small breakfast, ex: a hard-boiled egg with avocado slices. (Which actually sounds delish!).

Even after finding solutions to my current wrong-doings, I wanted more direction. There came in this juicing regimen. This juicing plan provides a 5-15 day regimen for juicing. It is everything I was looking for in that it comes with a grocery list, a calendar of juices ana what days to juice what recipe and the recipes, so many recipes. I am so excited about this new venture.

So this is the plan, find the mulah for the correct juicer and start Joe’s juicing regimen and follow it as closely as possible for the next 15-30 days. I probably will substitute the dinner option with a real meal but other than stick to the precise plan. I will update the blog on my progress. Wish me luck luvs.
