My First Indie Pattern Haul

It’s a #Pattern Haul! My First Indie Pattern Haul

Waiting on a friend for a lunch date Saturday morning I wandered into the Gather Here sewing shop located in the heart of Inman Square in Cambridge, MA. It’s a wonderful sewing store where they sell all your sewing, knitting, crochet, embroidery and crafting needs. They also have weekly classes that cover all the disciplines which makes it easier to find classes that fit your schedule.

The first thing that caught my eye was the crafty S A L E banner adorning the cute entry door. I am on a tight budget so I wasn’t planning on making any purchases, just some window shopping and maybe future project planning with the available (delivery-free) resources. I walked in and immediately was drawn to the carrousel of patterns ahead of me. To my surprise and delight they were all Indie Patterns: Collete, Closet Case Files, Grainline Studio, Megan Nielsen, Fancy Tiger Crafts and more. AND THEY WERE ALL ON SALE!!!

During my sewing journey thus far, I have only worked with the BIG 4 Patterns and some Mimi G tutorials. I have been following some amazing sewists on Instagram and on their blogs and they’ve been sharing some beautiful makes with Indie Patterns, many talking about the surprising small amount of fitting issues they ran into using these patterns. So I have been keeping a running list that I would like to try and with the SALE banners dancing around me, it felt like this was meant to be. Out of the 10-12 patterns I wanted, I chose the four that I felt would transition well into my wardrobe and I would enjoy sewing.

Grainline Studio Portside Duffle Bag and Tamarack Jacket, Closet Case Patterns Ginger Jeans and Nettie Dress and Bodysuit sewing patterns.

I received 20% off each pattern and paid $14.40 compared to their regular price of $18 each.

Here are some makes from my favorite sewing sisters to help keep me inspired as I try my hand at these patterns for the first time.
